There are many things that Vic Schendel loves about the West. He looks
forward to days spent working cattle on the prairie, and he enjoys hunting
and fly fishing in the mountains. But most of all, he loves to paint.
Born in Houston, Texas and raised along the front range of the Colorado
Rockies, Vic brings the intense colors and the many moods and seasons
of the West to life in his artwork. The faces he paints are those of
his friends, modern American cowboys.
Vic began painting with oils around the age of six, and it is still
his favorite medium. He is primarily self-taught, although he has spent
years studying the techniques of many of the great western and wildlife
artists he admires.
Vic appears in numerous shows during the year. His work is on display
in galleries in Colorado, Wyoming and Kansas and in private collections
throughout the United States. His studio and home are in Fort Collins,
Colorado, where he lives with his wife and daughters.
