As a landscape watercolor artist, James Harvey Taylor finds excitement
and continual challenge in capturing the essence and vitality of nature's
varied moods.
James paints the landscape with a free impressionistic style of brushwork
that often only suggests form, that ignites the imagination of the viewer
to see beyond the obvious. A love and deep respect for the landscape,
combined with the need to share inner feelings and interpret nature's
design, has broadened into a life pursuit for this artist.
Born in Washington D.C. in 1946, James spent his early years in Arizona
before moving to central Utah. Following graduation from Brigham Young
University in 1974 with B.A. and M.A. degrees in fine art, he taught
art in the public schools for several years before becoming a full time
professional artist.
Mr. Taylor's original paintings have been featured in many exhibitions and
prestigious galleries throughout the United States, and are in hundreds of
private and corporate collections. His watercolor landscape paintings have
also been published for the social greetings industry in over fifteen countries.
Currently, twenty-five limited edition prints have been published and are sold
in galleries nationwide.
" The spontaneity of watercolor excites me with its endless variety
of subtlety and color nuance. Its magic and mystique are compelling and
captivating."
- James Harvey Taylor
